The Ottawa Rideau Speedeaus: ''Learn to Swim Program'

The Ottawa Rideau Speedeaus is a swim team with a difference. It is primarily a gay, lesbian, bisexual and trans team. We also welcome members from the straight community. Our main purpose is to help members reach their swimming goals, be they for competition, recreation or fitness.

We again this year, offer our Spring session "Learn-to-Swim" program. The classes will be held at the University of Ottawa pool, Montpetit Hall. The program consist of 8 classes starting Wednesday April, 7, 2010. The regular fees $70, students $35.00

The Learn-to-Swim program is for those who don't feel ready to attend regular practices, or who want to learn or improve their techniques and strokes. Participants learn the basics of freestyle, breaststroke, backstroke, and butterfly and/or work on stroke improvement. They also learn to use the timing clock, develop aerobic pacing, floating, flip turns and pool etiquette.
