HOUGH, John Percy

John was 44 years old and worked for the Canadian Blood Services.

Peacefully on January 17, 2009 after a brief but courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. John is a much loved son of Mary "Midge" Hough and the late Ronald Hough. He leaves behind his "big" sister Cathy (Robert Bailey), his older brother Ron (Kelley Hiley), nieces Alison (Wayne Reid) and Karen (Brad Hudson) and nephews Trevor, Colin and Scott Hough. John will miss the "loves of his life"...his great nieces and nephews...Matthew Hudson and Teagan, Janeah and Chase Bailey-Reid. He also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. John embraced life...he loved to play volleyball, enjoyed canoeing, had fun with his German band, was an accomplished musician and had the voice of an angel. His sense of humour prevailed until the end. Our sincere thanks to all we met during John's short journey...Dr. Christine Cripps, Dr. Abu Zeid, Dr. Young, Dr. Fitzgibbon, the ER Staff (General Campus), Paramedic Services, Anne (RN) on 8 East, Linda and ALL of the Staff on 5 East (General Campus). Special thanks to John's "work family" at CBS. Sincere thanks to Father Brian Price "Brockville" for his Mass last week. John was adamant that there be no funeral or memorial service...he said he preferred to be remembered in life and not in death. There will be a graveside service in the Spring followed by a reception to celebrate John's life...details to be announced. In memoriam donations can be made to CHEO (ER Department) or the Humane Society of Ottawa to honour John's love of children and animals. Condolences can be sent to the family at colefuneralservices.com
