There will be no Monday or Wednesday night volleyball during the week of March 15th, as the school will be closed for spring break.

GOV 2010 Tournament

Saturday March 20 to Sunday March 21 2010

Gay Ottawa Volleyball (GOV) is once again pleased to welcome volleyball teams from across the country and from across the border to the 19th annual volleyball tournament to be held in Ottawa, Ontario on the weekend of March 20-21 2010. Again this year, the tournament will be played at the University of Ottawa gym located in the heart of historic Ottawa. Registration includes two days of volleyball along with an evening of food and fun for all.

Registration is now full for the 2010 tournament!!

The 2010 GOV tournament is now full. New registrations will be put on a waiting list.

Wednesday night practice for GOV tournament teams

Tomorrow night is the last night of volleyball before the GOV tournament on March 20-21, due to the March Break school closure next week. As such, if there are any GOV-registered teams that would like the chance to practice for the hour before regular night play you are welcome to do so.
The gym will be open at 6:30. By 7:45 you will be asked to finish up your practice as the regular night play will commence.

The Ottawa Rideau Speedeaus: ''Learn to Swim Program'

The Ottawa Rideau Speedeaus is a swim team with a difference. It is primarily a gay, lesbian, bisexual and trans team. We also welcome members from the straight community. Our main purpose is to help members reach their swimming goals, be they for competition, recreation or fitness.

We again this year, offer our Spring session "Learn-to-Swim" program. The classes will be held at the University of Ottawa pool, Montpetit Hall. The program consist of 8 classes starting Wednesday April, 7, 2010. The regular fees $70, students $35.00

Unfortunately, Lynne is unable to come out and coach the Drills and Skills this evening due to illness.

Drills and Skills for Wed. March 3rd, 2010

It`s time for another Drills and Skills session with Lynne. Get off the Olympic Couch and get to the court! The gym is open at 6:30 and the session starts at 6:45 sharp.

This week Lynne will focus on:

HITTING AND BLOCKING (basic skills and how to observe the hitter)
*setters would be helpful for this clinic*

MARCH

• March 17: THIS IS THE MARCH BREAK FOR THE SCHOOL: NEW DATE T.B.D.

• March 31: setting and outside hitters (position 2 and 4 – target hitting, off the block, off speed, tip, etc.) as well as back court attacks (behind the 3 meter line)
